LONGVIEW — For second time in the past three matches, the Sul Ross men's soccer team came up short by one goal.
On Thursday night, the LeTourneau University Yellowjackets edged out the Lobos, 2-1.
The Lobos were faced with an unlucky situation in the 38th minute when they scored on their own goal as the Yellowjackets pressed into the attacking zone.
In the second half, Russell Gray extended LeTourneau's lead to 2-0 during the 54th minute.
Sul Ross erased the shutout in the 88th minute when
Mauricio Perez found the back of the net off an assist from
Julio Hinojos.
Time wasn't on the Lobos' side as the comeback fell short.
The Lobos out-shot LeTourneau, 17-10. During the first half, Sul Ross had eight shots to four for the Yellowjackets.
Jair Moreno led Sul Ross with five shots while
David Gallegos tallied four shots. Hinojos and
Xavier Russell each had three shots.
Sul Ross matched the Yellowjackets with three shots on goal.

Julian Sandoval made two saves in a full 90 minutes.
