The record doesn't show how much the Sul Ross State men's soccer program has been gradually improving as of late.
This was a challenging week for the Lobos after losing to a tough side like the University of Texas at Dallas and then having to regroup for another match against the University of the Ozarks Eagles.
On Saturday at the Lobo Soccer Field, the Lobos showed signs of brilliance in the first half keeping the game scoreless.
Unfortunately, the Eagles came out with the 2-1 victory.
The opportunities were abundant for Sul Ross in the first half as it finished with five shots while holding the Ozarks to just three.
During the second half the offensive momentum shifted over to the Eagles as they fired off eight shots.
Emmanuel Ritch broke the ice in the 48th minute off an assist by Nathan Wagner.
During the 78th minute, Jorensky Augustin gave the Ozarks a 2-0 lead after finding the back of the net with an assist from Alain Claude.
Sul Ross answered back six minutes later with a goal from
Pablo Herrera. It became a race against time from that moment forth.
The Lobos were unable to tie the game with six minutes left in the match.
Ozarks had eight shots at the goal, 11 shots overall. Goalkeeper Caleb Anderson made four saves.
For Sul Ross,
Julian Sandoval saved five shots in the net. The Lobos tallied eight shots with five coming at the net.
