Lobos never trail in 72-53 win over Concordia

AUSTIN, Texas - Women's hoops opened the game on a 17-0 run and never trailed in a 72-53 win over Concordia.

"It was a good team win today," said head coach Katie Novak. "Marley Rokas and Keona Loftis did a great job setting the tone with their hustle. Our energy and sharing the ball helped make the difference today."

First Quarter
Sully's offense stormed out of the gate with back-to-back layups from Marley Rokas. Rokas added five more during the opening run with Alexis Carmosino scoring five and Caitlyn Corley three for a 17-0 lead with under four minutes left. After a Corley jumper made it 19-2, the final four for the Lobos came at the free throw line for a 23-6 advantage entering the second.

Second Quarter
The second quarter was more even, with the Lobos taking a 20-point lead on a Vania Hampton free throw with just over two minutes left. Concordia scored the final four of the second for a 32-17 score heading to halftime.

Third Quarter
Concordia cut it to 12 with a triple to open the second half but fell behind 36-20 after back-to-back layups from Rokas and Carmosino. Again leading by 12, the Lobos finished the third on a 15-3 run for a 56-32 advantage heading to the final quarter.

Fourth Quarter
The Tornados opened the fourth with a 9-0 run but never got within 15 again. Sully's 12-4 answer put the Lobos up 23 with just over three minutes left. It was the first of a pair of 23-point leads that eventually resulted in a 72-53 win.
