Lobos fall in Thursday clash with Mary Hardin-Baylor

BELTON, Texas - Competitive for most of the first half, a late run and strong second half for Mary Hardin-Baylor doomed the Lobos in a 94-81 road loss to the Crusaders.

"It was another great battle with Bear (Clif Carroll) and UMHB," said head coach Xavier Webb. "Our guys played hard and battled all 40 minutes. We are going to tighten up some things defensively as we move to Concordia on Saturday."

First Half
Logan Dixon sank a triple for Sully's first lead at 3-2, but a 5-0 run put UMHB ahead four. Not normally known for his three-point prowess, Dixon put a stop to the small answer with another triple to cut it back to one. The Lobos were not short on answers in the first half, erasing a 23-11 deficit with an 11-0 run to cut it to one again. After a Cru jumper, Trey Nelson tied it up with his second triple of the game for a 25-25 score. Nelson later gave Sully its first lead of the game with a jumper for a 29-28 advantage. Their largest lead of the first half was at 35-32 after a CJ Jemison three-pointer with just over 5:00 left. UMHB controlled the rest of the first with a 12-0 finish to lead 44-35 at the break.

Second Half
Sully was able to trim it to eight on a pair of early occasions and later used a 7-0 run to cut it to 64-57 with just over 10 minutes remaining. Dixon had four more and Omar Ibarra added three. The Crusaders immediately upped it back to double digits and kept that the rest of the way in a 94-81 final.

Stats
Dixon led the Lobos with 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting and 4-of-9 from beyond the arc.

Nelson was one off his season-best with 19 points. He added five assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Ibarra led the game with 11 rebounds and added eight points.

Paredes went for 14 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Jemison was also in double digits with 11 points.

Sully dips to 5-8 on the season and 2-6 in conference. UMHB moves to 11-1 and 6-1.

Concordia next plays host to the Lobos at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday in Austin.
