CLARKSVILLE, Arkansas - Women's hoops needed one lead and never trailed again in an 82-53 road victory over Ozarks.
"I loved our energy today on the floor and the bench for 40 minutes," said head coach
Katie Novak. "This is a difficult trip to make and we stayed focused and together."
First Quarter
Ozarks held leads of 2-0 and 4-2 until a 7-0 run put Sully ahead 9-4.
Cassie Hogan tied it with a layup before a
Vania Hampton layup followed by a
Teresa Quintana triple gave the Lobos a five-point lead. Sully's largest lead of the first came after an
Alyssa Ramlochan layup for a 25-8 advantage. The Eagles scored the final two on free throws for a 25-10 score going to the second.
Second Quarter
After a 6-2 start for the Eagles, Sully amassed a 17-0 run over the next 4:12. Quintana scored eight, including the final triple for a 44-16 lead with just over two minutes left in the half. Quintana again gave the Lobos a 28-point lead with a triple before taking a 48-22 advantage to the break.
Third Quarter
Quintana's opening jumper paired with back-to-back Hampton layups in the first minute gave the Lobos a 54-22 lead, their largest of the third. Ozarks spent the rest of the quarter outscoring the Lobos 20-11 for a 65-42 score going to the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
Marley Rokas opened the fourth with the first seven before Ramlochan finished a 9-0 run with a layup to go back ahead by 32.
Caitlyn Corley later used a small 4-0 run with free throws and a jumper for the largest lead of the game, 82-46, with just over two minutes left. Sully's bench got some good minutes down the stretch in what finished as an 82-53 win over the Eagles.
Stats
Quintana led the way with 19 points, adding four assists and two steals. She shot 7-of-9 from the field and 5-of-6 from three.
Ramlochan also shot 7-of-9, scoring 14 points with four rebounds.
Hampton led the game in rebounds with 10 and added 10 points.
Rokas scored 11 on 3-of-5 shooting and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
The Lobos improve to 10-9 on the year and 6-8 in the ASC. Ozarks falls to 6-9 and 3-7.
Sully enjoys the rest of the week off and next hosts Belhaven on Thursday, February 3.
