CLARKSVILLE, Arkansas - A second half goal handed men's soccer a 2-1 loss on Saturday against Ozarks.

After a goal from the Eagles opened scoring in the first half, Jose Luis Originales netted a penalty kick at 13:55 for a 1-1 tie that stretched to the half.

Ozarks broke the tie at 62:38 to take a 2-1 advantage that held the rest of the way.

Alexis Tellez faced ten shots on goal and tallied eight saves.

FROM COACH E:
  • We were real close against a very good team today.
  • I'm hurting for the guys right now, we are all dejected about the result, but the men have nothing to be ashamed of with the quality of their play today.
  • We found our way of playing again but just couldn't finish or close it out.
  • Most days the game we played today will get the result especially when we start putting the ball in the net and the guys have to know that and believe in the quality of their work and each other.
  • Alexis Tellez made the right plays at the right times as he has all year in goal.
  • Andres Najera battled for us, his movement was good all afternoon and he got chopped down to earn us a PK not long after they scored as a result of his quality.
  • Jose Luis Originales did a good job on the PK to pull us even. A lot of guys played a role today and showed their toughness to put us in that position and to give us a chance with the game still in question.
  • We'll build off of this, put in a good week of work and be ready to play in front of our home crowd finally on Thursday.
Sul Ross falls to 3-3 (0-2 ASC).

Ozarks improves to 5-2 (2-0 ASC).

The Lobos return to action on Thursday, September 30 against Belhaven in Alpine.
