Arturo Madrid netted the equalizer in the 87th minute to force overtime, but Hardin-Simmons answered late in the first OT for a 2-1 win over the Lobos.
HSU got on the board early in the first half on an unassisted goal from J.J. Sissen for a 1-0 lead.
The first half didn't see much action on net after that as both sides combined for four first half shots, each putting one on goal.
Sully bounced back in the second half with eight shots but only one on goal.
The one on goal was what mattered when Madrid netted his first of the year in the 87th minute for a 1-1 tie.
This one looked destined for a second overtime until Nick Tudgay scored on a header 9:42 into overtime for a 2-1 win.
Sully used two goalies on the day. Starter
Cesar Sanchez went the first 45 minutes with a save but was replaced by
Alexis Tellez at the half.
Madrid,
Irving Garcia, and
Luis Gonzalez each tallied two shots on the day. Gonzalez put one on goal to join Madrid and
Alan Hernandez for three total on the day.
The Lobos fall to 1-2-1 on the season. HSU improves to 5-3 and 4-0.
