KERRVILLE, Texas - Softball dropped 5-0 and 6-3 contests against Schreiner on Wednesday in a non-conference doubleheader.
Game One: Mountaineers 5 - Lobos 0
Jodie Vaughn started strong against Schreiner on the mound, allowing no runs and two hits over her first two innings. The Lobos were also held scoreless for a 0-0 tie heading to the third.
It was in the bottom of the third where scoring began as the Mountaineers put up a pair of runs for a 2-0 lead.
After being shutout in the top of the fourth, Vaughn got Schreiner in order to keep it 2-0 going to the fifth.
The Mountaineers extended their lead with three runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 5-0 lead that also went final.
Camryn Hardin and 
Payslee Sims tallied two hits each of the six total for the Lobos.
Both Hardin and 
Annika Canaba stole a base in the game.
Vaughn went the complete six innings in the loss. She allowed seven hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Game Two: Mountaineers 6 - Lobos 3
The Lobos got on the board first when Hardin scored second on an error at third base for a 1-0 lead.
Halie Guillen later came in to score from third for a 2-0 advantage.
The Mountaineers got one back in the bottom of the first for a 2-1 Sully lead heading to the second.
After being sent away in the top of the second, 
Miranda Martinez put away Schreiner in order with a flyout and two strikeouts to keep it 2-1 going to the third.
Hardin led off the third with a double before Canaba grounded into a fielder's choice that got Hardin out at third. Canaba proceeded to steal second and third base. Martinez then stepped in and helped out her own cause with an RBI single for a 3-1 lead.
Martinez returned to the circle and pitched another shutout inning to keep it a two-run lead heading to the fourth.
Schreiner's pitching settled down with a shutout fourth and their offense added four runs in the bottom of the inning for a 5-3 lead. They would tack on another in the bottom of the fifth for a 6-3 lead that went to the seventh.
The Lobos were able to bring the tying run to the plate with one out after a single by 
Leslie Munoz and a walk by 
Heather Rios. The Mountaineers then got Hardin to ground into a fielder's choice and 
Hunter Montes to pop out for the 6-3 win.
Hardin and Martinez both had two hits in the game.
Martinez pickup up the loss after 3.2 innings in the circle, surrendering five runs and striking out two
The bullpen of 
Marley Moralez and 
Danielle Gomez pitched 2.1 innings of one-run ball with two strikeouts and a walk.
Sully falls to 6-4 on the year but remains tops in the ASC West with a 6-2 conference record.
The Lobos next play host to Belhaven on Friday, March 26 for a doubleheader in Alpine.
