BROWNWOOD, Texas -
Annika Canaba finished with her second triple-double of the season on Tuesday to help the Lobos sweep Howard Payne in straight matches, 3-0 and 3-1.
Canaba entered today's action as one of two players in the nation to have a triple-double performance. This afternoon's achievement came in the second match after finishing with a game-high 15 kills, 19 assists, and 10 digs.
Match One - SRSU 3 HPU 0

Set 1:
The Lobos started down 1-0 but answered with a 3-0 run that was finished with a kill by
Isabella Ruiz and a service ace from
Faith Herrera for a 3-1 lead.
Up 4-3, Sully went back on the attack with a 10-1 run to break things open early. The run came in two parts, starting with a 5-0 answer that included a pair of service aces from Canaba for a 9-3 lead. After an HPU kill, Sully rattled off four more points with two kills from
Loren Garcia and one by
Kyleigh Mulanax for a 13-4 advantage in set one.
The Lady Jackets made it a game with a 9-1 run to trail 14-13.
Both sides swapped the next four points for a 16-15 lead for the Lobos.
Sully got the offense in gear again with a 5-0 run to lead by six. It began with a service error before a Canaba kill.
Tatyana Colon followed with a service ace and
Loren Garcia then added a kill. The run ended on an HPU ball handling error for a 21-15 lead.
The Lady Jackets put the next two points on the board to make it a 21-17 game.
Mia Bella Ruiz put a stop to that small answer with a kill, but HPU came back with one of their own to keep the deficit at four.
Loren Garcia had an answer with back-to-back kills to put Sully on the doorstep of a set one win with a 24-18 lead.
After the Lady Jackets got a point closer on an attack error,
Daniella Garcia finished the set with a kill for a 25-19 win.
Set 2:
Set two saw the Lady Lobos storm out of the gate with a 5-0 run. It was started with kills from Mulanax and
Loren Garcia before two in a row from Canaba.
Sully used another 5-0 answer after an HPU kill for a 10-1 lead.
Loren Garcia and Canaba again provided kills.
Runs became a pattern for the Lobos in set two after a 6-0 run made it 16-2. Canaba and
Isabella Ruiz started with kills before Canaba stepped to the service line and delivered an ace. After an attack error from HPU, Canaba again served an ace before the run was finished by a ball handling error from the Lady Jackets.
HPU answered back with the next four before Sully took a commanding 22-8 lead after a 6-2 run and eventually a 25-21 set two win that was capped by a
Vivian Moya kill after she had a service ace.
Set 3:
Set three started more evenly in the scoring department with three lead changes before the Lady Jackets took a 7-4 lead with a small 3-0 run.
Daniella Garcia responded with back-to-back kills off Canaba assists to trail 7-6.
Sully's next lead of the set came after a 4-1 run made it 10-9. Mulanax,
Loren Garcia, and Canaba each provided kills.
HPU used a 3-0 answer to take a 12-10 lead before Canaba tied the game with back-to-back kills for the start of a 6-1 run and 16-13 lead.
Mia Bella Ruiz added two kills and Canaba had another for the three-point advantage.
Both sides swapped the next six points for a 19-16 lead for Sully on a service error by the Lady Jackets. That was the start of a 7-2 run for a 25-18 set three win and sweep for the Lobos.
Canaba finished with a match-high 11 kills and tied Moya with a game-best 16 assists.
Mia Bella Ruiz led the way with a game-best 14 digs. Herrera was close behind with 13 and Colon had 11.
Match Two - SRSU 3 HPU 1

Set 1:
The Lobos started set one with a 4-1 lead that was finished by a Canaba kill.
With Sully now ahead by four, the Lady Jackets came back with a 5-1 run for a 7-7 tie.
Set one didn't remain tied for long after a 5-0 run by the Lobos put them ahead 12-7.
Daniella Garcia and Mulanax added kills to go with a pair of service aces from Colon.
After a Colon service error, Sully responded with three more to lead 15-8.
HPU and the Lobos swapped the next three points before an HPU service error kick-started a 6-0 run for a 12-point Sully advantage.
The Lady Jackets scored the next two before Sully matched that with two of their own. HPU continued the trend with the next two, but
Isabella Ruiz closed the door on set one with a kill to take it 25-14.
Set 2:
Both sides played back and forth over the first seven points of set two before the Lady Jackets took a 5-3 lead.
Isabella Ruiz cut it to one with a kill, but three more followed for HPU for an 8-4 advantage.
The Lobos wouldn't stay down for long with a 5-0 answer for their first lead of the game at 9-8. Colon added two more service aces to her day during the lead swap.
HPU quickly tied it but that lasted one serve after a pair of kills from
Loren Garcia and one from Canaba put Sully ahead 12-9.
The Lady Jackets answered right back with three for a 12-12 game.
Runs were common in the middle of set two with a 5-0 response from the Lobos for a 17-12 lead. Bella Ruiz each added a pair of kills and Herrera notched another service ace.
Sully's lead stood at 22-16 on a kill from
Isabella Ruiz, but HPU came back with a 6-0 run for a 22-22 tie.
The Lobos stopped the run with a Mulanax kill but again fell behind 24-23.
Loren Garcia's kill tied it up again, but the Lady Jackets scored the next two on attack errors for a 26-24 win in set two.
Set 3:
Set three was another that started back and forth and was tied 4-4 before an 8-0 Sully run put them ahead 12-4. Mulanax,
Daniella Garcia, and
Isabella Ruiz led the charge with two kills each.
The Lobos kept HPU at bay during the middle of the set and eventually took an 11-point after a kill from Canaba coupled with a Moya kill and an attack error made it 19-8.
Sully's largest lead of the set came after a 4-0 run made it 24-12.
The Lady Jackets cut it to nine with the next three points but fell 25-15 in set three on an attack error.
Set 4:
The Lobos broke it open with a 6-0 run to start set four.
The next six points of the set went back and forth before an HPU kill after a service error made it a 9-5 game.
Sully got the next point on a service error but quickly saw a 10-5 lead cut to one with a 4-0 run from the Lady Jackets.
Isabella Ruiz stopped that run with a kill, but HPU quickly took a 13-11 lead with another 4-0 run.
Mulanax put a stop to that with a kill, but the Lady Jackets put the next two on the board to lead 15-12.
The Lobos were quick to recover the lost lead with a 6-0 answer that saw a pair of kills from
Loren Garcia, one from Canaba, and a service ace from Moya for an 18-15 lead.
HPU cut it to two on three occasions over the next five points, but Sully finished on a 5-0 run that was capped by an
Isabella Ruiz kill for a 25-18 win in set four and a 3-1 match victory.
Canaba led the way with a game-high 15 kills to go with 19 assists and 10 digs for her second triple-double of the season.
Moya finished with a game-best 20 assists.
Colon ended with a team-high 20 digs.
Mia Bella Ruiz was not far behind with 17.
The Lobos even their record to 2-2 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. HPU falls to 2-8 and 0-8.
Sully now awaits a rematch with Howard Payne at the Gallego Center for two matches on Tuesday, March 9.
