BROWNWOOD, Texas - Joanna Estrada's 87th minute goal propelled the Lobos to a 2-1 win Friday over Howard Payne.

Britney Berumen got the Lobos on the board first with an unassisted goal at 32:44 of the first half for a 1-0 lead.

HPU answered back just 18 seconds later with a goal from Alexandria Barnett for a 1-1 tie that would extend to the half.

A quiet second half offensively led to a great finish when Joanna Estrada found the back of the net unassisted at 87:37 to take a 2-1 lead and give Sully the win in their spring opener.

The Lobos put eight of their 14 shots on goal for the game.

Estrada led both sides with seven total shots and three on goal.

Berumen put two of her four shots on goal.

Goalie Alitzel Ybarra shutout the Lady Jackets in the second half and saved five of the six shots she faced in the win.

Sully starts the season 1-0 and 1-0 in conference play. The Lady Jackets fall to 0-2 and 0-1.

The Lobos next host Mary Hardin-Baylor on Monday, March 1 at 1:00 at Lobo Field.
