LONGVIEW, Texas - Women's hoops rallied from a 10-point first quarter deficit to lead at the half but ultimately fell 70-64 to LeTourneau on Thursday night.
"It was a battle and we fell short," said head coach
Katie Novak. "It's a good learning experience for us to play all 40 minutes with our best effort. LeTourneau was the tougher team tonight."
First Quarter
LETU opened the game with the first six and went on to hold a lead of as many as 14 before
Keona Loftis ended the first with two free throws and a layup for a 18-8 score going to the second.
Second Quarter
Alexis Carmosino stopped a quick 4-0 LeTourneau start to the second with a layup to begin a 7-0 run.
Alyssa Ramlochan then hit a layup before
Teresa Quintana sank a triple to cut it to 22-15. The Lobos spent the latter half of the second on a 15-4 run to close out the half. Quintana and Carmosino each had seven and
Lauren Lusk added the final point for a 30-29 lead at the half.
Third Quarter
Sully's offense exploded coming out of the break with a 10-0 run to lead 40-29. LETU slowly chipped away and retook the lead twice before going to the fourth with a 50-49 advantage.
Fourth Quarter
The YellowJackets upped their lead to four, but the Lobos tied it up on four occasions through the final quarter. Tied 62-62 with under three minutes left, LETU broke away with an 8-2 run to finish the game for a 70-64 win.
Stats
Carmosino led the Lobos with 20 points and matched
Vania Hampton with seven rebounds.
Hampton finished with 10 points and tied a game-high five steals.
Ramlochan finished with a team-high eight rebounds. Quintana was in double digits with 12 points.
Sully falls to 5-3 and 1-2 in the ASC. LeTourneau improves to 4-1 and 1-0.
The Lobos next travel to take play UT Dallas on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Richardson.
