JACKSON, Mississippi - Women's hoops concluded the 2021 portion of their season with a 64-55 loss to Belhaven.
First Quarter
Alexis Carmosino gave the Lobos a 3-2 lead with a jumper early in the first quarter before Belhaven retook it with a 6-0 answer and eventually upped it to a nine-point advantage.
Vania Hampton finished the first with a layup to trail 20-13 going to the second.
Second Quarter
The Blazers upped their lead to as many as 14. Sully cut it to 12 a number of times but went to the half trailing 31-18.
Third Quarter
Alyssa Ramlochan opened the third with a layup to make it 11 before Belhaven scored the next six to lead 37-20. Down 18 near the midway point of the quarter, the Lobos used a 13-5 run to bring it to within 11. The final four were unanswered with a layup from
Lauren Lusk and a pair of free throws from
Keona Loftis for a 46-35 score with just over a minute left. The Blazers scored the final two of the quarter to lead 48-35.
Fourth Quarter
After Belhaven opened the fourth with a layup, Sully cut it to 12 with a 6-1 run. Ramlochan soon brought it to 11 with a layup and Quintana later got it to 10 with a triple for a 57-47 score. Later down 13,
Ashley Nunez hit a jumper before a Loftis three-pointer with a 63-55 game with just over a minute left. The last minute saw only a free throw from Belhaven for a 64-55 final in favor of the Blazers.
Stats
Carmosino matched a game-high 12 points, adding nine rebounds and two steals.
Ramlochan tied a game-high 10 rebounds with seven points.
Loftis finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and a pair of steals.
The Lobos go to the break with a 6-6 record and 2-5 in conference. Belhaven improves to 7-3 and 3-3.
