DALLAS, Texas - Women's basketball sported a game-high 14 points from
Cassie Hogan and
Alexis Carmosino's game-best 14 rebounds in a 76-40 Tuesday victory over Dallas Christian.
Sully opened the game with a 7-0 run to set the pace early. Hogan and
Vania Hampton started the run with back-to-back layups before Hogan connected from beyond the arc at 7:13.
After a Crusaders triple ended their first run, Hampton started and finished an 8-2 run over the next 3:06 for a 15-5 advantage with 2:59 left in the first quarter. She contributed a pair of layups to go with a
Kaylee Martinez layup and a pair of free throws from Carmosino for their first double-digit lead.
Both sides traded a layup over the remainder of the quarter for a 17-7 score heading to the second.
Jackie Saucedo opened the second with a layup, but the Crusaders cut it to eight with back-to-back jumpers to make it 19-11 at 7:30.
Sully proceeded to go on a 22-4 run over the remainder of the half to break things open. The stretch saw seven different Lobos score to lead 41-15 heading to the break.
Dallas Christian opened the third quarter on a 7-2 run to trail 43-22 at 6:06. They would again cut into the deficit with a 9-5 stretch to make it 48-31 with 33 seconds left in the third, but
Teresa Quintana hit a late triple for a 51-31 lead heading to the final quarter.
The Lobos never looked back in the fourth, starting it on a 14-3 run to lead 65-34 with 4:33 left in the game. A true team effort, this drive saw five different scorers.
After the Crusaders scored the next three, Sully upped their lead to 39 with an 11-1 answer before time expired on a 76-40 win.
Hogan's game-high 14 came with four rebounds and two steals.
Carmosino added eight points and a pair of steals to go with her 14 boards.
Hampton was also in double digits with 11 points and finished with six rebounds.
Martinez joined Carmosino for double-digit rebounds with 10.
The Lobos improve to 2-4 on the year. Dallas Christian falls to 1-5.
Sully enters day two of the DCC Christmas Classic on Wednesday with a 1:00 p.m. tip against LeTourneau.
