ABILENE, Texas - Men's basketball was unable to complete the Abilene sweep after a one-point Saturday afternoon road loss to Hardin-Simmons.
Following their win against McMurry Friday evening, the Lobos fell to Hardin-Simmons by the score of 74-73.
Senior guard
Tristen Licon had another strong outing with 20 points and 6 rebounds. He was also efficient going 7-12 from the field including 2-2 from the three-point line and was perfect from the free throw stripe at 4-4.
The Cowboys were led by guard Chase Cobb with 19 points. Neal Chambliss followed with 15 and Steven Quinn had 14.
This tough loss came down to field goal attempts as Hardin-Simmons edged Sul Ross in both attempts and percentage. They managed nine more attempts and came in at a 46.2% completion opposed to the Lobos' 44.6%. While the Lobos did out-rebound, their 15 turnovers also proved costly.
Sully moves to 1-2 on the year. HSU stands at 2-2.
The Lobos next travel for a Friday, December 4 matchup against UTSA at 6 p.m. in San Antonio.
