SEGUIN- The Sul Ross Lady Lobo Volleyball team picked up a pair of wins Friday against St. Joseph's College - LI and Schreiner at the start of the TLU Bulldog Challenge in Seguin.
Sully started the day with set wins of 25-18 and 25-23 against the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's before falling 25-16 in set three. The Lady Lobos bounced back and took the match with a 25-18 set four victory.
In the later match the Lady Lobos and Mountaineers would trade the first two sets. Sully took set one 27-25 before dropping set two 25-22. The Lady Lobos would take control in the next two sets with 25-15 and 25-16 wins to take the match.
SRSU 3 - SJC 1
Isabella Ruiz and
Jordan Scherer led the way with 13 kills each. Ruiz also had a team high 16 digs while
Hannah Zly contributed a second team best 15.
Kylee Davis led Lady Lobos with 16 assists, freshman
Asher Haack pitched in with 14.
SRSU 3 - SU 1
Scherer was tops again with a team high 17 kills. Ruiz and
Kyleigh Mulanax each had 13 while Ruiz also contributed a team high 17 digs. Davis notched a team high 29 assists to go along with 14 digs.
Sully concludes the Invitational tomorrow with matches against host Texas Lutheran at 10:00 a.m. and Jarvis Christian at 2:45 p.m. from Seguin.
