RICHARDSON, Texas- Jorge Marquez led the hitting department batting 3-for-5 with three runs scored to pace the Sul Ross Lobos (15-19, 11-10) to an 11-6 ASC win over U.T. Dallas (18-18, 10-8) in Saturday's series finale in Richardson.

The win gives Sully a 2-1 series victory over the host Comets heading into Tuesday's non-conference contest at NCAA Division I New Mexico State.

U.T. Dallas scored the first run of the contest in the opening inning.

The Lobos fired back with a three-run attack in the second as a sacrifice fly by Andres Martinez scored Chris York. Jacob Pool then scored on an infield single by Bo Justin Martinez before a sacrifice bunt by Joseph Sanchez plated Marquez for a 3-1 Sul Ross lead.

The visitors added insurance in the fourth with a another three-run inning as Pool and Marquez scored off another single by Martinez. Andres Martinez then came across, unearned, as Wesley Moss grounded into a double play for a 6-1 Lobo advantage.

U.T. Dallas cut their deficit in half with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning.

Following a scoreless fifth, a two-run homerun by Tim Johnson brought in Tye Lindsey extending Sully's lead to five.

The Comets narrowed the Lobo lead down to three with another two-run outing in the bottom of the seventh trailing 8-5.

Moss then scored in the eighth off a single through the left side by Daniel Rojo.

In the top of the ninth, Moss reached on a single through the right side scoring Sanchez for an 11-5 lead.

An attempted rally by U.T. Dallas fell short in the bottom of the inning as Thomas Craig homered to left field and pulled the home squad to within five.

A fly out and a called strike out spelled the Comets' demise as the Lobos prevailed for the 11-6 victory.

Freshman reliever Ian Craigie picked up his second collegiate win after throwing 2.1 innings while senior Peyton Marett posted his fifth save of the season.

Pool also finished at 3-for-5 hitting with two runs scored. Bo Justin Martinez led the team with three RBI.

As a team, Sul Ross outhit the Comets by a 17-8 margin.
