B.J. Hollis led the charge with a season-high 25 points as the Lobos opened conference play Saturday with a 97-80 win over Howard Payne.
After an early 3-2 lead for Sully, the Yellow Jackets used a 6-0 run for an 8-3 lead at the 17:15 mark of the first half.
Logan Dixon answered with his own 10-2 run, hitting back-to-back threes before back-to-back layups, to give the Lobos a 13-10 lead with 15:01 left in the first.
Sully broke things open and took a double-digit lead with a 14-2 run that spanned the next 3:47.
B.J. Hollis started and finished the scoring with triples.
Brayden Fry added four while
Tristen Licon and Dixon each had two for a 27-16 lead.
HPU responded with a 9-2 run top trim the lead to four.
The Lobos quickly found themselves up double-digits again with a 10-0 run. Hollis added six more to put Sully ahead 39-25 with 6:46 left before the break.
Hollis finished the first half with the final six on two triples for a 55-36 lead going to the half.
HPU used the first four minutes of the second half to whittle their deficit to 12 on an 11-4 run for a 59-47 score with 15:53 remaining.
Jezreel Griffin extended the lead back to 67-50 with a triple at 13:46.
The Lobos never looked back as their lead remained double-digits the rest of the way in a 97-80 ASC victory.
Hollis' game-high 25 came an efficient 8-12 from the floor and 6-9 from beyond the arc. He added four rebounds and three assists.
Dixon contributed 21 on the night for his seventh double-digit performance of the season.
Fry and Licon were also in double-digits with 12 and 11 respectively.
Sully evens their record to 4-4 and 1-0 in American Southwest Conference play. HPU stands at 1-9 and 0-1.
The Lobos next travel to Austin for a Sunday, December 29 game against North Central College. Tip is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and will be hosted by Concordia University.
