ABILENE- The Lady Lobos concluded their 2019 season on the road in Abilene Friday with a 3-0 loss to McMurry.
Scores were 25-23, 25-15, and 25-22 in favor of the War Hawks.
Sully scored the first point of the match on an
Annika Canaba kill for a 1-0 lead.
McMurry used a 9-2 run to break things open with a 9-3 lead.
Down 11-5, the Lady Lobos cut the deficit to two with a 4-0 run on back-to-back War Hawk attack errors, a bad set, and a Canaba kill.
Sully would keep the deficit within four for the remainder of the set but couldn't get any closer than a point, as the McMurry squeaked by with a 25-23 set one win.
The War Hawks opened scoring and held a 6-3 lead early on in set two.
The Lady Lobos mounted a 6-1 run for their first lead at 9-7.
Katelyn Easley provided a kill and
Hannah Zly notched a service ace during the run.
McMurry answered right back with a 6-0 run for a 13-9 lead and never trailed again in a 25-15 set two win.
The War Hawks opened set three on a 4-0 run.
Sully would play from behind for most of the set but kept the deficit within five and eventually tied things 20-20 off a 6-1 run. Easley and Canaba each had a kill, while
Jordan Scherer had two in the run.
The match would see two more ties at 21-21 and 22-22, but McMurry was able to score the final three points of the set for a 25-22 win and a match sweep.
Canaba finished with a game-high 13 kills to go with 11 assists and six digs.
Stephanie Diaz notched a game-high 15 digs.
Kylee Davis led all Lady Lobos with 16 assists and had 9 digs.
Sully finishes their 2019 season with an 11-14 record and 4-11 in conference play. McMurry closes at 18-9 and 8-7.
