ALPINE- A pair of second half goals from
Arturo Madrid and
Lorenzo Segura propelled the Lobos to a 2-0 win over Howard Payne on Senior Day Friday.
A slow first half saw only six combined shots with four on goal and a 0-0 tie.
Sully's offense exploded in the second half with 14 shots and eight on goal.
Scoring started early when
Arturo Madrid scored the first goal of his Sophomore year 3:23 into the second half for a 1-0 lead.
Nana Prempeh provided his first assist of the season.
Senior
Lorenzo Segura netted his team-high fourth goal of the season at 83:22 off
Luis Gonzalez's first assist of the year for a 2-0 lead.
Sul Ross' defense limited the Yellow Jackets to seven shots on the day and only three on goal. Senior goalkeeper
Frank Rodriguez ended his Lobos career with three saves and his third shutout of the season in Sully's 2-0 win over HPU.
Daniel Torres and Madrid led both sides with three shots on goal. Segura tied Torres for a team-high four shots and also put two on goal.
Sully honored four seniors, including Segura, Rodriguez,
John Dominguez, and
Bryan Dominguez.
Segura played both years of the programs existence, totaling four goals, three assists, and 23 shots on goal as a midfielder.
Rodriguez started 30 games in goal, totaled 156 saves and a .757 save percentage in two seasons.
John Dominguez played both seasons as a defender and totaled three shots on goal.
Bryan Dominguez scored one goal during his two years as a defender for Sully.
The Lobos finish their season at 4-9-3 and 2-6-3 in conference. The Yellow Jackets end with a 4-14 record and 2-9 in the ASC.
