PINEVILLE, LA-
Lorenzo Segura's first career hat trick and a
Luis Gonzalez goal lifted the Lobos to a 4-1 ASC victory over the Wildcats Thursday.
Luis Gonzalez put the Lobos up 1-0 just 2:17 into the first half with his first goal of the season.
Lorenzo Segura started his best collegiate game with a goal off an assist by
Osvaldo Ogaz for a 2-0 lead at the 28:37 mark of the first half.
The Wildcats cut the deficit in half at 49:06 of the second half on a Jason Rodriguez goal.
Segura answered back just over 17 minutes later with his second goal of the game with an assist by
Eddie Rodriguez.
Just over four minutes later it was Segura again off an assist by
Demetrio Ortegon to notch the hat trick at 71:19 for the 4-1 victory.
Both Segura and Gonzalez continued their impressive play against Louisiana College.
In a 4-3 loss last year on October 11, Gonzalez netted a goal on three shots. Segura also scored in that game on two shots and had an assist.
Segura had been held scoreless this season before his hat trick and is now the leading goal scorer for the Lobos. He's matched last year's goal total of three with this performance.
Goalkeeper
Frank Rodriguez improved his record to 2-4-1 on the year with three saves and one goal allowed. He's allowed just two goals in his last four games played. His goals allowed average has dropped from 2.24 to 1.21 in that span.
The Lobos kept the pressure on the Wildcats all night with 24 shots and 14 on goal. Segura and Gonzalez led the team with five shots each.
Daniel Torres matched Segura with four on goal.
The Lobos improve to 3-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play. The Wildcats drop to 0-8-0 and 0-3-0.
