ALPINE- Texas Lutheran stormed ahead 28-0 at the half and never looked back in a 35-6 defeat of the Lobos at Sul Ross Homecoming Saturday.
Wade Freeman's 21-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Sotelo gave the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
Freeman's second touchdown of the game came on a 26-yards strike to Joseph Moreno for a 14-0 lead in the first.
TLU scored twice more in the second on a Freeman 16-yard touchdown run and a 1-yard run by Ian Leslie for a 28-0 lead at the half.
Leslie added another 1-yard touchdown in the third quarter for a 35-0 lead that extended to the fourth.
Sul Ross gave the crowd a look into the future in the fourth quarter with a turnover that led directly to a touchdown.
Isaiah Jacobs forced a fumble at their own 19-yard line and was recovered by
Cory McMahan. The Lobos immediately marched down the field and finished a 10-play, 81-yard drive that ended on a 35-yard pass from
Trey Johns to
Isaiah Villarreal to get the Lobos on the board.
Jaden Brown's extra point attempt was blocked and TLU still led 35-6 and eventually won by the same score.
Johns finished with 127 yards on 13 of 20 passing with one touchdown and an interception.
Dre'Chan Moody led all receivers with 75 yards on six receptions.
The Lobos fall to 3-4 on the year and 3-3 in ASC play. The Bulldogs move to 6-1 and 6-0.
Sully heads back on the road next week against Howard Payne in Brownwood on November 2.
