Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Villalobos scores again, Lady Lobos fall 2-1 to UMHB #SRSU | #BrandEm | #ASCsoccer

BELTON- Aylin Villalobos scored her third goal in two games and team-high fifth of the season, but the Lady Lobos fell 2-1 Saturday to Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Villalobos gave the Lady Lobos the lead at the 34:39 mark of the first half on Britney Berumen's first assist of the year.

Villalobos is coming off a two-score game against Concordia on Thursday. This is the second time in her career she has scored in a game following a two-goal performance. After netting two in 2018 against Howard Payne, she followed that up with a lone goal against Concordia.

UMHB would tie the game under two minutes later on an unassisted goal by Maria Rico at 36:32. Emily Blaettner's unassisted goal at 42:13 put the Cru ahead 2-1.

Goalkeeper Alitzel Ybarra experienced a constant barrage of shots the entire game. After saving five of seven shots on goal in the first half, she saved all six shots that came her way in the second for a total of 11 on the game.

The second half would see neither side lighting up the scoreboard as UMHB claimed the 2-1 win.

Sully finds themselves competing closer with UMHB as the program continues to grow. This one goal loss marks only the second time the Lady Lobos have played the Cru to within a point. In 2018 Sully fell 2-1 in Alpine. Their previous four losses going back to 2015 were 3, 2, 3 and 11 respectively.

The Lady Lobos fall to 2-7-3 and 1-4-1 in ASC play. UMHB improves to 7-5-1 and 5-1-0.

Sully now prepares for a pair of home games next week. They'll first take on McMurry Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Lobo Field.
