KERRVILLE- Schreiner University's Cailee Morgan netted the lone score for either team and propelled the Mountaineers to a 1-0 victory over the Sul Ross women's soccer team in Friday non-conference play.

Morgan's goal was unassisted and came in the first half at the 23rd minute mark.

The two teams traded shots sparingly through the remainder of the half as the contest transitioned into a midfield battle.

Schreiner mounted a 3-0 shot attack to start the second period with freshman goalkeeper Taylor Higgins recording a save.

Sully posted two shots by sophomore midfielder Telisa Jones and freshman forward Aylin Pereyra at the 58th and 63rd minutes.

Both teams combined for four shots down the stretch but the Mountaineers prevailed to pick up their first victory of the season.

Schreiner outpaced the Lady Lobos by an 11-8 shot margin.

Higgins recorded four saves on the afternoon while Pereyra led the offensive effort with four shots posting three on goal.

Sul Ross drops to 1-1 on the season while Schreiner improves to 1-1-1.

Sul Ross will take on McMurry and defending ASC Champion Hardin-Simmons in Abilene September 13 and 15 to open American Southwest Conference competition.
