LAS CRUCES, New Mexico- In a Tuesday non-conference game, the Sul Ross State University Lobos dropped a 14-8 decision to NCAA Division I New Mexico State.
The two teams combined for 34 hits over nine innings of errorless ball.
The Aggies came out strong with five runs scored in their opening at-bat.
Sul Ross responded and took a brief lead with a six-run attack in the top half of the third inning.
Jace Jenkins lit the board first for the Lobos with a solo home run before
Ryan Acebedo scored off a single by
Ryan Almager to pull Sully to within three, trailing 5-2.
Monty Maley then doubled Almager and
Luke Vedder across before
Jonathon Bigley's single scored Maley to tie the game at five.
A single by Jenkins drove Bigley across to cap the inning giving Sul Ross a 6-5 lead.
New Mexico State reeled in two runs in the bottom of the third and added six more runs in the fifth for a 13-6 advantage.

Joseph Sanchez brought Jenkins across before the Aggies scored their final run of the contest in the bottom of the inning
Sully threatened in the top off the ninth as Almager homered with two outs but the Aggies maintained the momentum and secured the 14-8 victory.
Reliever
Coleman Ramsey shouldered the loss after two innings.
Sul Ross drops to 19-15 on the season while New Mexico State improves to 24-13.
The Lobos return to American Southwest Conference action with a critical three-game series against visiting Howard Payne April 20 and 21.
