SHERMAN- Sul Ross Volleyball (1-5) dropped three straight games to Pacific University before falling to University of Dallas, 3-1, in day one of the Austin College Invitational.
The Lady Lobos will face Occidental College and Louisiana College Saturday in first serves scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Sul Ross suffered a 25-10 bruising in their opening set against Pacific but picked up some momentum in 25-13 and 25-22 setbacks in games two and three.
The Lady Lobos dropped a 25-14 first set to Dallas but rebounded with a 25-21 victory in game two. The Crusaders regrouped and posted 25-22 and 25-11 victories in the final pair of sets for the match win.
In set two against Dallas, an opponent attack error led to a 1-0 Sul Ross advantage to start the game. A handful of lead exchanges would ensue before a pair of ball handling errors by the Crusaders pushed Sully ahead by an 8-5 margin.
Alesi Hernandez (Odessa/OHS) then set up a kill for
Priscila Serrano (Marfa/MHS) for a 9-6 Lady Lobo advantage.
Sul Ross then moved on a 3-1 sprint capped off by a kill by
Emily Campos (San Angelo/TLCA) from
Alyssa Lanahan (El Paso/Bel Air).
The Lady Lobos never relinquished the lead as Campos fired off a set-closing kill for the 25-21 victory.
