Angalyn Latin shouldered a team-high 25 points and led the Sul Ross Lady Lobos to a 73-65 victory over Dallas Christian College Saturday afternoon.
Latin also finished with four assists and a steal in Saturday's win.
Dallas Christian began the game with a 4-0 run before
Taylor Gass rang in a long distant jumper to narrow the Lady Lobo deficit to one with 9:18 remaining in the first quarter.
Latin then nailed a three-pointer at the 8:32 mark to tie the contest at six.
Gass banked on a jumper at the elbow to break the tie at 6:13 as Sul Ross would hold the lead for the remainder of the period.
Sully ended the quarter with a three-pointer by Jessy Stanely at 19 seconds for a 22-14 Lady Lobo lead heading to the second.
Sully maintained a tight lead to start the second quarter until a layup by Dallas Christian's Dezeray Welsey at 5:46 tied the game at 25.
The two teams swapped leads through the stretch of the quarter before a layup by Stanley with just under a minute remaining gave the visitors a 35-33 advantage heading to intermission.
Dallas Christian took the go ahead off a jumper by Erionnia Brown for a 36-35 lead with 8:41 left in the third.
The home team would hold a slim lead for the next four minutes before
Erica Solomon- Powell banked on two free throws to knot the outing at 44.
Powell would end the half on a layup to give the Lady Lobos a 51-47 lead heading to the closing quarter.
Latin began the final period with two foul shots to extend Sully's lead to eight at the 9:08 mark.
Dallas Christian crept to within three, one-point deficits but could never recover the lead as Sul Ross ended the game with a 5-1 run for the 73-65 victory.
Powell and
Lizette Heredia tallied 16 and 12 points respectively. Latin and Heredia led rebounders with six boards each.
The Lady Lobos improve to 3-9 on the season while Dallas Christian drops to 5-8.
Sul Ross will face the University of Dallas in the final game of 2017, Sunday at 2:00 p.m. from Irving.
