ALPINE, Texas- The Sul Ross women's basketball team dropped an 81-61 decision to NCAA Division II U.T. Permian Basin in the final home game of 2017 Tuesday.
Lizette Heredia and
Angalyn Latin shouldered 16 points each in the effort.
The Falcons ended the opening quarter with a 6-0 run to lead 24-10.
U.T.P.B. then sported a 17-point lead early in the second period before Sul Ross worked its way down to a six-point deficit off a three-pointer by
Erica Solomon- Powell with 3:06 remaining in until the half.
Latin scored the final bucket of the half with a layup at 1:05 with the Falcons up 39-31.
U.T.P.B. would hold two more 17-point leads in the third quarter and went to the closing period up 60-43.
A jumper by the Falcons' Alexandria Dockery at 6:44 gave U.T.P.B. their largest lead of 23.
The Lady Lobos could pull no closer than 16 as the Falcons coasted the rest of the way for the 81-61 win.

Taylor Gass posted 13 rebounds.
Sully finished at 21-of-54 shooting from the floor at 39 percent.
At 2-9 on the season, Sul Ross will take on Dallas Christian and University of Dallas in a pair of non-ASC road games Decmber 30 and 31.
