ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana- Annie Lenoir posted a team-best 18 points as the Sul Ross Lady Lobos (1-8, 1-3) dropped a 91-78 decision to Louisiana College (6-2, 2-1) in Thursday night conference play.

The two teams traded leads throughout most of the first quarter. 

Lenoir started and ended an 8-0 Sul Ross run with a pair of three-pointers to put the visitors up by eight at the 1:08 mark.

A 4-0 run by the home team cut Louisiana College's deficit to four, trailing 24-20 at the end of the first period.

The Wildcats tied the game at 26 off a jumper by Zharian Maxmillion with 8:14 left in the second quarter.

A layup by Rachel Johnson at 7:44 put Louisiana College ahead by two but was answered by a transition three-pointer by Erica Solomon- Powell.

A Wildcat turnover set up another three-point shot for Lenoir with Kiera Cosby following up with a free throw to give Sully a 31-26 lead at 6:45.

Louisiana College's Jonika Walker tied the game at 31 with a layup and completed the old school three-pointer with a free throw which started a 5-0 run at 3:02.

Powell converted again from outside the arc at 33 seconds giving the Lady Lobos a 39-37 go ahead heading to the half.

A jumper by Taylor Gass six seconds into the third quarter put Sul Ross up by four.

A jumper by the Wildcats' Janae Smith knotted the contest at 43 at the 7:48 mark before Maxmillion's layup broke the tie on the next possession.

Louisiana College would then break ahead and held their largest lead of 11 with 2:25 remaining in the third quarter.

A foul shot by Powell at seven seconds pulled Sully to within four before Courtney McGhee scored from midrange extending the Wildcats' lead to six, 63-57, heading to the fourth period.

The Wildcats stayed in the driver's seat in the closing quarter although Sul Ross chipped its way down to a five-point deficit with a free throw by Lenoir at 2:10.

The home team ended the contest with an 8-0 run for the 91-78 victory.

For the game Powell finished with a second team-high 16 points. Angalyn Latin, Lizette Heredia and Taylor Gass recorded 15, 14 and 12 points respectively. Gass missed a double double by just one rebound.

Sul Ross heads to Jackson, Mississippi for conference action against Belhaven University this Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
