ALPINE, Texas- The Sul Ross volleyball team dropped a 3-0 American Southwest Conference decision to visiting Hardin-Simmons Friday evening.
The Cowgirls posted 25-17, 25-17 and 25-21 victories.
Sul Ross threatened to extend the match to four sets in game three.
The Lady Lobos battled back from a six-point deficit to tie the set at 16 off a Hardin-Simmons hitting error.
Another opponent attack error coupled with a kill by
Alie Muldrow (Crosby/CHS) gave Sully an 18-16 advantage.
The Cowgirls fought to a 21-21 tie off a kill by HSU's Morgan Prince then commenced on a 4-0 run to claim the game and match victory.
For the evening,
Autumn Kilpatrick (Sterling City/SCHS) mustered nine kills with
Alesi Hernandez providing 16 assists.
McKenna Thomas and
Mirella Thomas sported 14 and 10 digs respectively.
Sul Ross will wrap up the season Saturday against McMurry University. First serve is slated for noon at the Gallego Center.
