NATCHITOCHES, La.- A first quarter run by Sul Ross (6-8, 3-3 ASC) was snuffed as Louisiana College (3-7, 3-3 ASC) recovered with a second period scoring surge and went on the defeat the Lady Lobos, 66-53 in Thursday night conference play.
Sully will head east to face Belhaven University at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
The Lady Lobos started the contest on a 7-0 run which ended with a layup by
Kenya Miles (Tomball/Memorial).
Louisiana College answered with a 7-0 run of their own and trailed 14-10 with 2:38 remaining in the opening period.
The Wildcats ended the quarter on a 4-0 sprint to pull within a deuce, down 16-14.
The home team took the go ahead at the 8:26 mark before
Lindsey Hearn (Lubbock/Lubbock Christian HS) drained a three-point bucket at 8:06 swinging the favor back to Sul Ross.
Louisiana College broke a 22-22 tie and mounted a 9-2 run to lead 33-24 at intermission.
Sully never regained the momentum in the final two quarters as the Wildcats coasted to the 66-53 victory.
Hearn led the team with 17 points while Miles posted 10 in the effort.
