VideoALPINE, Texas- One of the most successful seasons over the past 12 years came to an end Friday as the Sul Ross men's basketball team fell to Hardin-Simmons, 79-68 in the semifinals of the 2016 ASC Men's Championship.
The victory over the Lobos will set up a conference title bout between the Cowboys and Louisiana College Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at the Gallego Center.
Sul Ross finished with four players in double figures led by Brock Anders (Keller/KHS) with 18 points.
Seniors Alex Harrison (Lubbock/Monterey) and Rocky Feliciano (El Paso/Hanks) posted 14 and 13 points respectively while Caleb Thomasson (Ackerly/Sands) totaled 10.
The Lobos fell into a hole early as the Cowboys put up a 14-0 run to kick start the evening and coasted to a 45-24 lead at intermission.
Sul Ross pulled to within six as Anders nailed down a jumper with 30 seconds left in the game.
Hardin-Simmons ended the contest on a 5-0 run to secure the 79-68 victory.
The Lobos wind up the year at 16-10 while HSU improves to 17-10.
