RICHARDSON- A jumper by Madison Steele and two free throws by Nicolette Erkman with five seconds left fueled a 72-69 U.T. Dallas victory over visiting Sul Ross Monday.
The last five losses for the SRSU women have been by a margin of five points or less.
Mia Ochoa (Levelland/Whitharral) paced the Lady Lobos with 16 points while Kenya Miles (Tomball/Memorial) added a double double 15 points and 11 rebounds. Shannon

Sul Ross shot nearly 50 percent from the field at 10-21 or 49 percent while connecting on five of nine from outside the arc at 63 percent.
A three-pointer by Villanueva, a layup by Jonette Jackson (Killeen/Shoemaker) and another three point shot by Ashley Ousley (Killeen/Shoemaker) gave Sully an early 8-2 advantage with 8:25 remaining in the first quarter.
A layup by Alyssa Crockett at 5:17 put the Comets ahead by a slim 9-8 margin.
Ashley Minjarez's (El Paso/Irvin) long range jumper gave Sul Ross an 11-9 go ahead at 4:27 before a 9-0 run by the opposition pushed UTD ahead, 18-11 with 1:26 left in the opening period.
Micaela Gonzalez's layup and two foul shots by McKenzie Petty gave the Comets a 20-14 advantage at the end of the quarter.
U.T. Dallas climbed out to two, eight -point leads over the first half of the second period and would go on to sport a pair of 14-point leads late in the quarter.
The Lady Lobos assembled an aggressive 11-1 run ending on a Miles layup and trailed 38-32 at the break.
A three-point shot by Ochoa at the 3:10 mark in the third period closed the Sul Ross deficit to two, down 48-46.
The Comets countered with a three-pointer by Amber Terry at 2:34 giving UTD a 51-46 lead.
The Lady Lobos had the last word to end the quarter as Miles connected from midrange with 17 seconds left in the third and Sully behind 51-48.
Miles pulled Sul Ross to within a point's reach with a layup to begin the final quarter and U.T Dallas ahead, 51-50.
The Comets kept Sully at a five-point check before a layup and a three-pointer by Villanueva at 6:39 tied the game at 55.
The Comets broke the stalemate off of two free throws by Gonzalez before another shot from beyond the arc by Minjarez gave the visitors a 58-57 favor with 5:20 left in the game.
Miles spread the gap to three off a pair of free throws at 5:03 and Sul Ross would hold the lead for the next four minutes and 13 seconds.
A ten second, one-point lead exchange between the 30 and 20 seconds marks ended on a jump shot by Ousley giving Sul Ross a 69-68 advantage.
Steele's jumper in the paint combined with an SRSU turnover at seven seconds set up Erkman's two free throws to solidify the 72-69 UTD win.
With the setback, Sul Ross drops to 3-10 on the season and 0-5 in American Southwest Conference play while U.T. Dallas bumps their season and league records to 8-2 and 2-1.
The Lady Lobos will be in home action this Thursday and Saturday against Belhaven and East Texas Baptist. Tips are slated for 7:30 and 1:00 p.m.
