Jake Lopez

Jacob Lopez is his third year as assitant coach for the Sul Ross State men's basketball team.  He has been the men's and women's tennis coach for the same period.

Lopez is a Sul Ross State graduate and a former member of the Lobo basketball team. 

An El Paso native and 2016 graduate of El Dorado High School, Lopez attended Texas Wesleyan. After redshirting his first season, Lopez broke into the lineup as a sophomore.

He was a member of the 2017 NAIA Division I men's basketball national championship team at Texas Wesleyan. The following season Lopez helped the program to a 22-11 mark as it finished as regular-season champs in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Lopez then transferred to Sul Ross where he played for the next three seasons under former head coach Clif Carroll.  He was a two-time All-American Southwest conference selection, All-ASC defensive (2019-20) and two-time ASC All-Academic.  Lopez helped the Lobos win the ASC West Division title (2019-20) and he ranks among the top 10 in career assists (194).
