Biography

  • A three-time ASC Academic All-Conference choice, Wendy Smith Ratliff is in the top five of Sul Ross women's basketball players in career scoring, rebounds, steals and assists.
  • Ratliff also earned three All-ASC West Division honors in 1998, 99 and 2000. She won the team MVP award in 2000 and the Hustle Award in 1997, 98 and 2000 and the team Defensive MVP in 1999. A duel sport athlete, Ratliff was an ASC All-Conference honoree in softball in 1999.
  • A 2000 Sul Ross State University Woman of the Year, Ratliff received her Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and Special Education from Sul Ross in 2000.
  • She currently teaches elementary physical education and serves as head tennis and girls' basketball coach in Wink, Texas. During her tenure at Wink, Ratliff earned a Texas Tennis Coaches Association Coach of the Year nod in Class 1A in 2011 and 2016.  
  • Her Wink tennis teams have made eight TTCA state tennis team appearances and 10 trips to the UIL state tournament including a state championship. In basketball, Ratliff has coached the Wink girls to three bi-district titles.
