Biography

  • Received a B.S. in Botany from Sul Ross in 1967
  • Received two Master's degrees in Education and Physical Education from Sul Ross, in 1976 and 1986
  • Served as student athletic trainer under football coach David Slaughter from 1965-1967
  • Won a letter jacket with the undefeated 1965 Lone Star Conference Champion Lobos
  • Member of several professional athletic training organizations, includin the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association for over 30 years
  • Other memberships include the National Athletic Trainers Association (over 25 years) and fthe Texas High School Coaches Association (over 27 years)
  • Also a member of the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame and was the first trainer to be recognized by the Texas High School Coaches Association
  • Experience has stretched beyond the field and court to the rodeo arena
  • 25-year association working with rodeo athletes led to the development of a rodeo sports medicine program
  • Worked with Sul Ross Ex and Professional Rodeo Hall of Famer Richard "Tuff" Hedeman and served as the Championship Bull Riders (CBR) Sports Medicine Director for the CBR Tour in 2010
  • Retired from teaching and training at the high school level in 2007 and is currently a regional outreach coordinator for Phy Tex Rehab and Sports Medicine in Alpine
