Biography

"Mr. Baseball" of the Southwest

In 1946, bought the Alpine Cats and renamed them the Alpine Cowboys

The Cowboys played semi-pro (1946-58), then were a minor league team for the Boston Red Sox’s (1959-61)

In 1947, he built Kokernot Field (the current home of SRSU baseball) which has been called "the Best Little Ballpark in Texas (or Anywhere Else)" by Sports Illustrated and the "Yankee Stadium of Texas" by Texas Monthly.

Named Outstanding  Sponsor of Baseball in the United States in 1960 by the National Baseball Congress

Supporter of Sul Ross athletics for over half a century
