Biography

  • A two-time team captain and a four-year letterman, Andrew Jackson earned All-TIAA First Team honors in 1987, 88 and 89. He holds the DIII record for five interceptions in a game.
  • During his playing career, Jackson earned an NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week honor and was an Academic All-Conference selection in 1988 and 89. He served two terms as president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and one term as president of the Black Student Association.
  • Jackson was named to the Dean's List in 1988 and 89 and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business and Education and his Master's of Education in 1989 and 91.
  • Jackson currently serves as athletics coordinator and head football coach at LBJ High School in Austin. In his 20-year coaching career, Jackson has earned six District Coach of the Year awards and was a Central Texas Coach of the Year in 2014.
  • He led his teams to a pair of  state semi-final appearances, one state quarter-final and has compiled an overall record of 135-71-1.
  • Several of Jackson's former players have competed at NCAA Division I institutions with three players advancing to the NFL.
  • Jackson passed away in late 2017 after nearly a year-long battle with cancer.
