Coach Nick West joins Sul Ross Lobos as Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach after spending the Spring 2021 football season at Northwestern State University, assisting with the Demon offensive line and special teams.
A Natchitoches, Louisiana native, West spent the previous seven years coaching high school football in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area. There he won three state championships during his time at Parkview Baptist (2015 champions) and University Laboratory School (2017-18 champions).
In 2019, West coached at Walker High School in Louisiana, helping lead the Wildcats to their first playoff victory in 20 years. West returned to University Laboratory School in Baton Rouge for the 2020 season as the Cubs’ special teams coordinator and defensive line coach.
During his seven years at Baton Rouge area high schools, West coached in five0straight state championship games from 2014-2018 and also had the privilege of coaching 29 Division I signees. This included 16 players who signed with Power Five Conference schools.
A graduate of Parkview Baptist School in Baton Rouge, West was an offensive lineman on the 2007 state championship team under legendary Louisiana coach Kenny Guillot. He began his coaching career at Natchitoches Central High School in his hometown of Natchitoches, Louisiana.
West earned his undergraduate degree from Northwestern State University and will be pursuing his master’s degree while at Sul Ross.
