Keafer Clegg

Keafer Clegg enters his second season at Sul Ross as he serves as the co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach.

His last stop before Sul Ross was McMurry University from 2019-2021. He served as the defensive line coach and run game coordinator.

While at McMurry, Clegg coached an All-Conference defensive tackle, numerous players recognized as the ASC Players of the Week, as well as the Division III National Team of the Week.   

Clegg attended Howard Payne University where he played defensive line for four years and graduated with a degree in history in 2014.

In 2014-15, Clegg coached at Dumas High School in Dumas, Texas working with the outside linebackers.

Clegg returned to Howard Payne as a graduate assistant, working with the defensive line from 2015-2016 and coaching an ASC second-team All-Conference defensive end.

After graduating from Howard Payne with a master’s in education in sports and wellness leadership, Clegg went to San Diego Mesa College in San Diego, Calif., where he coached the defensive line, outside linebackers and was the defensive run game coordinator. 

While at Mesa, Clegg was a part of a bowl championship, the first one the school had since 2003. They were also the second-ranked defense among California junior colleges.

Clegg coached multiple players that would go on to obtain Division I scholarships as well as multiple All-Conference and All-American players including the 2017 conference Defensive MVP.     

He was born in Fort Worth, Texas and attended Fort Worth Paschal High School where he played football and wrestled for the Panthers before graduating in 2009.
