Jackson Field, located on the otherside of the train tracks on 204 S. Cockrell St. in Alpine, Texas, was built in 1924 after longtime Big Bend area rancher J.D. Jackson donated the land to Sul Ross.
The home of the Lobos has played host to numerous football events at the collegiate and high school levels.
The Randy Jackson Memorial Field House was finished in 2013 and has served as their locker room since. It was dedicated in memory of Sul Ross alum, supporter and booster Randy Jackson during homecoming festivities on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022.
Sul Ross debuted its new turf field in 2016 after a $100,000 gift from Wayne and Jennifer Thorp of Mertzon, Texas, provided the foundation for the project.
Turfing Jackson Field expanded athletics and recreational sports facility renovations for a multi-purpose recreational sports and intramural field that is both lighted and artificially turfed. It sits to the east of Jackson Field.
