Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lobos Duke It Out With Sailfish

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – It was another game of tremendous hustle as the Sul Ross State University women's soccer team (0-2-1) lost 3-2 to Palm Beach Atlantic (2-1), Thursday night at Rinker Athletic Campus.

Sul Ross State wasted no time in getting on the board.  Sophomore Kiersten Rowland blasted a shot from the top of the box into the twine.  That put the Lobos up 1-0 at the 1:23 mark.

Palm Beach Atlantic tied the game with 27:55 to go.  With less than 10 minutes left in the half, the Sailfish stunned SRSU with two goals in less than two minutes.

Sul Ross State had a goal robbed by a great save just before the end of the half.

The Lobos put pressure on Palm Beach Atlantic the entire second half.  With 8:10 left, junior Gabby Trevino made a great pass to Rowland who converted to close the gap to 3-2.

Sul Ross State had 11 shots with four on goal, two corner kicks and were called for 11 fouls.  Rowland's first goal is the fourth fastest from start of game in program history. Freshman Kat Graves finished with a career-high 13 saves.

Palm Beach Atlantic had 34 shots with 16 on goal, eight corner kicks and were called for eight fouls.

Sul Ross State Head Coach John Dominguez
"We fought for the full 90 minutes tonight.  We took an early lead and continued to battle, finding our second goal late in the game.  There are still things we have to improve, but we will fall forward, learn from these moments and keep progressing.  As I've said before, I believe in this group, and I will continue to believe in them.  Now we head back to Texas, recover and prepare for our conference opener against Dallas Baptist."

Sul Ross State remains on the road, Wednesday, Sept. 9 opening the Lone Star Conference season against Dallas Baptist.  The game is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
