Lobos Pick Up A Draw With Lady Buffs

ALPINE, Texas – It was another shutout at home as the Sul Ross State University women's soccer team (0-4-2 Lone Star Conference, 0-6-3) took a 0-0 tie with West Texas A&M (0-3-2 LSC, 1-5-3), Saturday at Lobo Soccer Field.

Freshman Avery Owen was a rock in her first collegiate start.  She made numerous great saves to keep the Lady Buffs off the board.  Owen would finish the day with 13 saves.

This is the third shutout in five games at home this season for Sul Ross State. The Lobos have now gone 190 minutes, eight seconds without giving up a goal at Lobo Soccer Field.

"West Texas A&M is a program with a great history in this conference with conference championships and a tradition of success.  To earn a result against a program of that caliber shows the progress of group.  However, we also understand where we must improve.  Offensively, we need to create more and be more decisive in the final third.

This week, the group and I will go back to the drawing board, work on those attacking details and prepare for Wednesday.  We respect today's result, but our responsibility is to keep moving forward."

Sul Ross State hits the road, Wednesday, Sept. 30, playing Angelo State.  The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
