Lobos Take The Fight To Rattlers

ALPINE, Texas – It was 90 minutes of heart and hustle as the Sul Ross State University men's soccer team (0-1 Lone Star Conference, 0-7) lost 1-0 to St. Mary's (Texas) (2-0 LSC, 6-3), Saturday afternoon at Lobo Soccer Field.

At the 22:05 mark of the first half, sophomore Aldo Gomez blasted a shot that was stopped by a great play from the St. Mary's keeper.  Freshman Fernando Hernandez was equally as stellar on the other end.

The Rattlers managed to sneak one thru with 12:45 to go in the first half.  That would be the only score of the contest.

Sul Ross State had five shots with one on goal, four corner kicks and were called for 10 fouls.  Hernandez had nine saves.

St. Mary's had 22 shots with 11 on goal, 11 corner kicks and were called for seven fouls.

Sul Ross State takes to the road, Wednesday, Sept. 30 playing St. Edward's.  The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
