Lobos Host Dustdevils and Javelinas in Lone Star Conference Play

Alpine, Texas — Sul Ross State University Women's Basketball returns home this week for a two-game Lone Star Conference homestand at the Pete P. Gallego Center, hosting Texas A&M International on Thursday, January 29, with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m., followed by Texas A&M University–Kingsville on Saturday, January 31, at 1:00 p.m. The Lobos look to continue building momentum and consistency as they compete in front of their home crowd during a pivotal stretch of conference play.

Within Lone Star Conference play, Victoria Aguayo continues to rank among the league's top performers, leading the conference in steals with 59 through 16 games, averaging 3.7 per game. Aguayo also ranks third in the LSC in rebounding, totaling 135 rebounds on the season, including 47 offensive rebounds (2.9 per game) and 88 defensive rebounds (5.5 per game), for an average of 8.4 rebounds per contest. Leslie Mojica sits second in the conference in steals, recording 45 steals over 16 games and averaging 2.8 per game, sitting right behind Victoria on the steals leaderboard.

The Lobos enter the week with momentum after earning a 69–60 road victory over Western New Mexico University last week for a Lone Star Conference win. Sul Ross was also scheduled to face the University of Texas at Dallas on Saturday, January 24, but that matchup was postponed to Tuesday, February 24, due to freezing and snowy weather conditions across the state of Texas.
