Sul Ross Continues Growth Against Javelinas

ALPINE, TX – The Sul Ross State University football team (overall 0-4, LSC 0-2) fell 52–3 to Texas A&M–Kingsville (overall 2-2, LSC 1-1) on Saturday night at Jackson Field.

The Lobos showed early life when Vicente Gariveay drilled a 39-yard field goal in the first quarter to cut the Javelina lead to 7–3; however, Kingsville controlled the rest of the way with a punishing ground game and opportunistic defense. Sul Ross defenders Shannon Montgomery and Jonathan Fuamatu led the team with 13 and 11 total tackles, respectively, showing standout effort despite the loss.

Sul Ross will look to regroup and chase its first win of the season next week, as the Lobos travel to Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium in Canyon, Texas to face West Texas A&M on Saturday, October 4, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.
