ALPINE, Texas – The Sul Ross State University football team continues its early-season road stretch this weekend with a trip to Nacogdoches, Texas to face Stephen F. Austin. Kickoff is set for Saturday, September 13, at 7:00 p.m. at Homer Bryce Stadium.

The contest marks the first-ever meeting between the Lobos and the Lumberjacks, providing Sul Ross with an opportunity to measure itself against a tradition-rich opponent from the Division I FCS level. For the Lobos, who are in the process of building momentum during their provisional membership in the Lone Star Conference, the matchup serves as both a challenge and a chance to showcase progress.

Sul Ross opened the 2025 campaign on the road at UTRGV, then had a week off to regroup and prepare for SFA. The bye provided extra time for adjustments, giving the Lobos a chance to focus on improving consistency and sharpening execution in all phases of the game. Entering week three, the emphasis will be on continuing to establish their own style of play—building rhythm offensively and finishing drives with points, using balance and discipline to control the tempo, while defensively focusing on energy, communication, and creating takeaways.
