Lobos Battle Lady Chaps

ALPINE, Texas – The Sul Ross State University women's basketball team (1-16 Lone Star Conference, 2-18) lost 73-45 to #14 Lubbock Christian (16-1 LSC, 22-3), Saturday afternoon at the Pete P. Gallego Center.

Lubbock Christian came out strong scoring the first 10 points of the game.  The Lady Chaps led 16-4 at the 4:22 mark of the opening period before Sul Ross State made a run.

Freshman Maddie Rhea hit a tough jumper in the paint to make it 16-10 with 9:28 to go in the second period.  LCU scored nine straight points to effectively end the game.

The Lobos held the Lady Chaps to 27.3% on treys, the seventh time in the last nine games an opponent has shot under 32%.

For Sul Ross State, Rhea led the team with nine points while junior Victoria Aguayo pulled down eight rebounds. 

For Lubbock Christian, Grace Foster scored 15 points.

Sul Ross State stays home, Thursday, Feb. 13, taking on West Texas A&M.  The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
