Lobos Keep Growing and Show Big Strides in Colorado

Grand Junction, Colo. - Sul Ross State University Women's Basketball (1–2) fell 89–67 to Fort Lewis College (5–0) in Friday's opening matchup of the Mavericks Thanksgiving Classic in Grand Junction, Colorado. The Lobos also scored 27 points in the third quarter.

Victoria Aguayo delivered a standout performance, finishing with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, and a game-high eight steals while shooting 5-of-6 at the free-throw line. The effort also pushed her past the 700-point mark in her Sul Ross career, giving her 716 total points as a Lobo. She was joined in double figures by Leslie Mojica, who scored 17 points and went 11-of-14 from the free-throw line, and Ariana Escalante, who added 10 points and four steals to round out the team's top scorers.

"Even with the injuries we're battling, our team showed incredible heart from start to finish, and I'm proud of every one of them. Leslie and Victoria led us with 17 points each—Leslie hitting 11 of 14 free throws and Victoria adding 4 assists and 8 steals—while Sophia added 11 and Ariana scored 10 with 4 steals. The Lobos return Saturday November 29th for their second matchup in the Mavericks Thanksgiving Classic at 5 PM MT against Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado.
