Lobos Keep Fighting Spirit Alive in Lone Star Play

ALPINE, Texas — The Sul Ross State University football team (0-8 overall, 0-6 LSC) fell 62-0 to Angelo State (6-2 overall, 4-2 LSC) Saturday night at Jackson Field.

Evian Thompson delivered a record-breaking performance, setting a new school record with 23 tackles (17 solo, 6 assists) in a single game, surpassing the previous mark of 22 set in 2003 by Bernie Luna against Mississippi College on September 27, 2003.

Quarterback Kye Callicoatte was a bright spot for the Lobos on the ground, rushing for 80 yards on 17 carries while consistently extending plays with his legs. The sophomore quarterback showed toughness throughout the night, breaking multiple tackles and providing key first downs against the Angelo State defense.

Sul Ross continues Lone Star Conference play at Eastern New Mexico in Portales, N.M. on Saturday, November 1.
