RICHARDSON, Texas — On Friday afternoon, the Sul Ross State softball team dropped a pair of close games to the University of Texas at Dallas Comets by the scores of 2-1 and 7-1 at the UTD Softball Field.
>> GAME 1:
The Comets scored on an RBI single in the bottom of the first.
Sul Ross State tied up the game in the top of the third with an RBI single by
Ciera Avila that brought in
Kyndell Garcia.
UT-Dallas scored its final run in the fourth on a throwing error by the catcher.
>> GAME NOTES:
- The Lobos had three hits.
- Toni Mishnick went 1 for 2 with a double.
- Avila finished 1 for 3 with a single and an RBI.
- Samantha Chavez had a single to go 1 for 3.
>> GAME 2:
The Lobos scored the first run of the ballgame on an RBI double to left center by Avila that drove in
Vivian Jimenez in the top of the first.
UT-Dallas scored twice in the second to take a 2-1 lead.
The Comets then scored three runs in the third before getting two more runs in the fifth on a pair of solo home runs.

- Avila had a double to go 1 for 3 with an RBI.
- Madison Hodges hit a double to go 1 for 3.
- Mishnick and Chavez each finished 1 for 3 with a single.
- Jimenez had two singles to go 2 for 3.
